Blind Start of America's "Dinner in the Dark"
In celebration of World Blindness Awareness Month Blind Start of America (BSA) presented Visionary Experience…Blindfolded!: “Dinner in the Dark.” It was an ultimate night of celebration, awareness and education. It was held on Saturday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Cerritos (12725 Center Court Drive). Guests experienced a menu of savory, pungent, sweet, sour and spicy flavors, all while blindfolded. Chef Carlos presented throughout the meal to describe each dish. A donation of Niebaum-Coppola Estate wines selected specially for the Dinner in the Dark wasl served. In addition to dinner, the evening included entertainment and a silent and live auction led by Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. Entertainment was provided by singer-actress Emy Baysic, singer Marleena Coulston, and the International Peace Choir. Melinda Gassman, Gloria Ehlers and Olegario “Ollie” Cantos VII were honored as Blind Start of America CHAMPIONS for their Courage, Service and Advocacy. Tiffany Johnson was surprised with the granting of her with the Blind Start of America’s I-scholarship.
