On August 25, 2009 the Sparks celebrated Breast Health Awareness & Asian-American Heritage throughout the night with performances, motivational speaking and concourse tables. The Sparks hosted Jodaiko, a Taiko Drum Group for a pre-game performance and the Kaba Modern Dance Crew from UC Irvine for a halftime performance. On the STAPLES Center concourse, Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches, (A3M), held a bone marrow drive.

The Sparks welcomed the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to STAPLES Center to enjoy the Asian-American Heritage festivities as well as the Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Court. The Asian-American Heritage Night activities concluded with a postgame motivational speech by Brian Tom from Blind Start of America.

Alongside Michael Cooper, current LA Sparks Head Coach and known former NBA five-time Laker championship team member, Brian Tom spoke on on how to succeed in life on the court and off the court despite adversity.
